Hotchkiss Anjou Pick Up. It is beautifully old fashioned and original. It is like a time warp back to the early forties in design and functionality terms. Everything is so original. It is the only Hotchkiss Anjou pickup in the world to my knowledge and one of very few surviving saloons. You may have never heard of a Hotchkiss car, they are extremely rare and were only supplied to the wealthy. They were completely hand built, luxury vehicles. The 1940’s French alternative to Rolls Royce. You will have heard of the infamous Hotchkiss Gun used in WW1 and Hotchkiss Antitank guns in WW2. Hotchkiss was predominantly an arms Manufacturer. This car wears the cross cannons badge to the front grill, evoking the companies history. Underneath her bonnet everything is factory original. She retains her 61,000 mile 2312cc engine and 4 speed gearbox with all her original plates and numbers. These are perfect whether you are driving locally or doing 70mph on the motorway She is a time warp in most respects, every panel is solid. So is her underneath. She is both tax and MOT exempt so you can save yourself a fortune. She has passed an MOT six months ago with no advisories to to ensure she is safe. She was purchased from the owner of a farm in Orcieres in the French Alps. She had been converted from a saloon into a pick up decades earlier. A classic car enthusiast specialising in French vehicles imported and partly restored her in 2012. There is a intriguing history file documenting this restoration. She is not an immaculate restoration, care and attention has been taken to ensure she retains all her original features and that period, forties feel.
