Reluctantly up for sale is my rare Caterham 21 - one of only 50 ever made - which is in beautiful condition and has covered only 8,800 miles. With a Caterham 7 chassis underneath its composite body, it drives just like a 7, in fact this car drives perfectly, with a fantastic sound from the twin exhausts. It has probably the sweetest engine/gearbox combination offered by Caterham: the free-revving 1.6 K-series Supersport engine (140bhp) with Caterham’s own 6-speed gearbox. It weighs only 665kg, so performance is excellent, and the 6-speed close-ratio gearbox is a delight to use. Practicality is of an order that Caterham 7 owners can only dream of: generous elbow room, extra leg room thanks to wide-track front suspension and an enormous boot that's capable of swallowing two sets of golf clubs (not that I play golf). It also rides better than a 7, making it surprisingly easy to drive even over poor road surfaces. A folding soft-top is included, which has hardly ever been used. The glass side windows are easily detachable. The bodywork is in superb condition and is painted in Jaguar Primrose Yellow. The seats are in light brown leather with matching interior panels. The car is MOT'd till May 2016.
