
Sylva Leader 400 in excellent condition inside and out. Brilliant Red paintwork. This is the original Swindon Sports Cars factory-built car, used in the 750MC Kit Car Race Championship, and featured in Kit Car Magazine Jan 1988. The Leader 400 is the much improved Vauxhall Chevette/Opel Kadett based model, not the earlier Viva-based Leader or Star model. And definitely nothing to do with Dutton. Fitted with a FIAT 1592cc Twin Cam engine, FIAT 5-speed gearbox, and Opel Manta rear axle. Engine is a Swindon Race Engines build, with standard steel crank and rods and flowed head Newman 300 degree cams and flowed head. Piper Vernier cam pulleys, recent replacement timing belt and tensioner bearing. Alloy CNC water pump and alternator pulleys from Millers Mule in the US. Fuel Injection based on Suzuki GSXR600 throttle bodies on a DCOE manifold and Microsquirt EFI controller. Ford EDIS crank trigger based ignition. Rolling road tuned and mapped at Southern Rolling Road. Silicone hoses, VW Polo radiator, electric fan Ramair Foam Air filter. Custom tubular mild steel exhaust manifold. Simpson Race Exhausts re-packable stainless steel silencer with Lambda boss. Gearbox is FIAT 5 speed unit from a late 1970's FIAT 124 Spider, rebuilt by Middle Barton Garage, running on correct synthetic oil. Rear axle is from a Manta A with a steel torque tube, and a Phantom Grip locker type LSD running on Shockproof Oil. All axle bushes are polybush-type plastic from Opel GT Source in the US. Spax dampers all round. Front wishbones are Opel Kadett Rear brakes are GM Zafira/Astra calipers and solid disks. Front brakes are GM Cavalier/Ascona/Manta solid disks. Tonneau cover, needs a bit of stitching along one zip Hood and hood frame. Fibreglass doors included but they are new and have never been glazed or fitted. Formula 27 seats. Luke full-harness belts.
