Bought last year after a long search for an honest car for a specific purpose, sadly owing to space and other projects, reluctantly I recognise I should probably part with my Silver Shadow. It was a special order car, built for Sir Edgar Beck, Chairman of Mowlem Construction and is detailed in the Mowlem company colours, it was specified with Sundym glass and an electric sunroof. With low owners (6) and mileage (65k) it’s a genuine honest old thing, albeit some of the paint is wearing a bit thin. A couple of car park dings in the wheelarches prove it has no filler. A trip to Classic Le Mans in July confirmed that the notorious brakes weren’t working properly, well, at all by the time I got back. As a result it was completely overhauled, new pumps, new accumulators and the previous owner had already replaced the discs, calipers and tyres. All in all, about £7k has been spent in the last two years or so. I had the car serviced and gone through for all the points most garages miss, various knackered bushes replaced etc. plus, despite not being needed, a new MOT in August to prove its roadworthiness. I then drove it from the Netherlands to Spain, via the scenic route. It covered nigh on 3000 miles needing only the oil topping up and one headlamp bulb, sweeping through the Pyrenees with aplomb. The sunroof and cruise control made it an awesome driving experience and I would have faith in driving it anywhere. Not all of the badges are included but you’re welcome to the RAC and AA ones. At the asking price I have a full set of manuals and tailored indoor dust cover. The asking price reflects the fact that it’s a genuine car, not a bodged up poorly maintained example, no recent respray hiding anything and unlike most has covered 4000 miles in the last 12months without fault. It would make a very nice car tidied up and one that could be used regularly- which it now is. My more modern car for longer distance runs has died,so the Shadow has stepped into the breach. Its now doing at least a weekly round trip of about 185 miles (more than some examples do in a year) so mileage will of course therefore go up. I’m not desperate to sell it as I rather enjoy wafting down the M3 in rush hour traffic in it, so am not interested in silly offers
