XAB 106G was first registered on the 1st March 1969 and spent from 1975 to 1988 with one owner in Cheltenham. The Rover changed hands in 1988, staying locally in Cheltenham for another four years. In 1992 the P6 sold to a gentleman in Coventry who owned the car for 21 years, parting with the car in 2013. Early into this long-term ownership, the P6 was subject of a major restoration with marque specialists Rovers Return in Lancashire. Paperwork for the 1994 restoration is with the car and work included a major restoration that included cutting out all evident rust. New panels included wheel arches, side member panels, rear splash panels, lower wheel arch panels, new inner and outer D posts, new front inner wing panels, new front and rear door steps and repair sections were fitted to floor sections and inner sills. The front and rear suspension and final drive were removed, prepared and sent for shot blasting and refitted with new link bushes, panhard rod bushes, new diff mounts and bushes and shock absorbers were replaced. Since this major work was carried out the Rover has covered 10,000 miles. Further expenditure since the early to mid-1990's included some re-chroming, a full interior re-trim and full external re-paint. Mechanical work over the past two years includes new brake hoses, rebuilt master cylinder, rebuilt brake calipers, a full service and a thorough snag list to include clock repair, radio repair and various detailed items costing over £1200. In total around £2000 has been spent on mechanical related work over the past two years. XAB 106G has arrived with us from one of our long-term Leeds customers. The vehicle drives exceptionally well. The engine runs perfectly and is strong, smooth and sounds perfect. The gear changes are slick and smooth, the Rover handles and brakes beautifully and is an all-round absolute delight to drive. Everything appears to work correctly and it's clear the Rover has been very well detailed during recent ownership. The P6 presents beautifully with excellent paintwork, lovely straight panels, bright chrome and a gorgeous re-trimmed interior. The Beige leather is stunning, carpets are very clean and door cards, dash and headlining are all lovely. This is a perfectly usable, excellent driving Rover that is ideal for shows, regular or weekend use.
