FOR THOSE WHO PREFER PATINA TO PERFECTION. RARE...RIGHT HAND DRIVE...RELIABLE...ECONOMICAL & VERY VERY COOL. If you wear a blue nylon anorak or waste your life counting rivets then this probably isn't up your alley. If, however, you live in the moment then read on. This is an iconic, genuine, authentic Jeep. Not a Mahindra or a Mitsubishi. The rare Civilian Jeep (CJ) 3B. And it's a beauty. I've had a few Jeeps over the years but nothing comes close to this handsome beast. It's the colour that does it for me. Understated khaki/ taupe. Not same old same old green. Registered in 1959 it's road tax exempt and MOT exempt. Back in the day it was regular practice to swap the thirsty petrol engine for a frugal diesel engine and this has been done professionally and properly. The seats are original khaki coloured plastic and they're wearing well. The odd tear and blemish but nothing to worry about. There's marks and scratches all over the place but they're the right kind of marks and scratches. This is a car to use not to look at. Patinated not perfect. The diesel engine purrs. It whips along and gets you where you want to go pretty quickly. I've not seen a classic Jeep with this seating arrangement before. You can get lots of mates and kids in the back as there's lots of seats...7 at least. The frame and soft top come off in seconds not minutes. Much quicker and easier to use than the 1961 Hotchkiss I had a few years ago. The soft top is held in place by a bar that has two screws. This makes it fast, tight and easy to fit & remove. The soft top fabric is original, thick, matching khaki plastic and has no tears or rips. It's just a bit dirty. Driving a right hand drive Jeep with the screen folded forward is a scream. So much safer & easier to use than the normal left hand drive cars. WW2 Jeeps seem to be anything from £25K-£45K. A nice Hotchkiss seems to be anything from £17.5-£25K. Most have been over restored and have few original parts. Tubs in particular are replaced on nearly all examples. My CJ3B ticks every box and it's priced to sell. It's much cheaper and rarer than a Hotchkiss. Perfect for the country house or beach house. Or for hacking around town. It certainly turns more Hipster heads than a flashy Ferrari. NB The Jeep is currently with a local "old school" mechanic who's going through it from front to back to ensure it's as good as it can be. He's giving it a very thorough, very full service with steering, brakes and all the other important bits being the focus of his love, care and attention. This'll make it fully fit for the Summer. And having fun. The engine and gearbox are Peugeot. This is the "million mile" engine from the unburstable Peugeot 504. It's permanent two wheel drive. Not four wheel drive. Nice and easy to steer. Please no time wasters. Just serious buyers. Thank you.
