Volvo 164, 1972 model year, mileage 97,000 I have owned this handsome six cylinder Volvo for the best part of ten years, it's been reliable and a pleasure to own and run, lack of space and an impending move means it has to sadly go. It is the twin Stromberg model, in Alpine blue with black leather interior. It is very original, I have made no major modifications apart from a new exhaust, some paintwork, new Bilstein rear shocks and regular maintenance. I have also fitted correct rear mud flaps and recently replaced the missing boot brightwork with good used parts. Rust is limited to the boot lip which will need attention soon, the underside is excellent with factory underseal and the cavities have been waxed. The interior is as original, though a period Radiomobile unit has been fitted with working electric aerial. The leather seats are generally good for 45 years old although a clumsy repair has been made to the rear and the drivers seat is now showing some wear. The straight six B30A engine is in good order and she starts with a little choke. The engine bay is scruffy but entirely functional and could easily be improved upon. The BW35 box changes smoothly and kicks down well although it does leak a little if the car is left standing for long periods. She will cruise happily at motorway speeds....and more; if you know old Volvos you will know they have plenty of power. They are also supremely comfortable, of all the vehicles I've driven this is one I'd have no hesitation in driving four or five hundred miles in a day. So, overall a very driveable, easy to run and work on classic that could be improved or left as is and enjoyed.
