A fine example of this 3.5 litre 4 cylinder side valve car with right hand drive. Built in Detroit and exported to Australia but restored and imported to Britain this large, impressive and comfortable vintage car is eminently usable. The coach built body with blue leather seating is in excellent condition. The folding hood has a cloth liner and side screens can be fitted if required. The opening screen has two attractive wind wings and the wiper has been upgraded from vacuum to electric. Mechanically, the car is also in good condition. The radiator surround has been recently nickel plated to a high standard and a new Dodge Brothers emblem and 'Dog bone' radiator cap with temperature gauge correctly complete the assembly. A rebuilt water pump with new shaft and later type rubber lip seals has eliminated leaks and all hoses have been replaced. The cooling fan has also been restored. Included is an original Dodge Brothers "Book of Information" and a rare poster size lubrication chart. Some spares and a folding luggage rack are also included. Engine. The cylinder block has recently been re bored with new pistons, valves, guides and springs and both the block and head have been skimmed and cleaned. New cylinder head studs and nuts fitted. The 5 bearing crankshaft and journals are in excellent shape and the camshaft appears to be new. The con rods - which have been checked for true - have been improved with later type floating gudgeon pins and cir clip piston retainers. There is good oil pressure. The clutch has been renewed and a new sealed pilot bearing has been fitted to the flywheel. The 3 speed gearbox has also been rebuilt and is particularly quiet in top gear. The rear axle is also quiet.! The 6 volt battery is quite recent and the rebuilt dynamo gives a good charge. The engine can be started by handle or by starter motor - also professionally overhauled - which is, again, correct for the car. The original distributor has benefitted from a replacement gear and housing. New sparking plugs, HT leads and coil are part of a complete ignition system overhaul. The original 'Clum' ignition switch has been restored and the drum speedo works as it should with a new cable. The correct Stewart Warner carburettor is a good one but the original vacuum tank has been temporarily replaced with a new low pressure 6 volt SU petrol pump. The original vacuum tank has been restored and is included. The car is rust free; it having spent many years in a dry climate. The chassis and springs all appear straight and sound. The exhaust system has been restored with a new silencer and the manifold has been replaced. The tyres have plenty of tread and new inner tubes have recently been fitted to the front (a spare tube is included). The brakes work effectively and have good linings. In all, a lovely, well restored vintage car. Tax and MOT exempt.
